June 16, 2003 Anyone for a dip?

Construction is finished, and the pool is full! Potted plants have been moved in to give some ambience while the landscape design is being planned.

May 23, 2003 Fencing

The wrought iron panels for the fence are all but done and the rocks, retaining wall and firepit (finally!) match the tiles.

May 14, 2003 Tile

Unusual natural stone tile with greys, black and just a hint of the native reddish brown are installed and the rocks, retaining wall and firepit painting is underway. The firepit is topped.

Cinder blocks are crawling down the property seperating the hillside from the pool.

May 9, 2003 Fence Posts and Dry Deck

The deck is dry, the firepit has been topped, the retaining wall started, and the posts for the new wrought iron fence are in place... those boulders are definately BROWN!

May 7, 2003 Grotto and PuckerCrete

Puckercrete decking has been poured completely surrounding the lagoon and firepit and creeping into the garden. The grotto and waterfall structures are finished, but BROWN not GREY?!?

April 28, 2003 Stone Detailing

Rock surface detail and texturizing is under way.

April 26, 2003 Firepit

More rock work, prep for pucker crete decking and tile, and the firepit has begun.

April 24, 2003 Beginning Of The Boulders

Rock work is underway, you can see the grotto under the waterfall taking shape, and the ground has been filled back in around the structures.

April 9, 2003 Rock Framing

Steel framing for the waterfall and rocks has come in... and the missing love seat has been punched back out (oops).

April 6, 2003 Gunite

Concrete! Now it is starting to look like a POOL! Steps and jacuzzi and... and where is the love seat on the plans?

March 30, 2003 Steel Framing

Steel has come in... the skeleton of the new lagoon is taking shape and you can begin to see what is to come. Plumbing and electricity, the main veins are also visible, equipment has been unpacked and installed.

March 23, 2003 There's A Hole...

There's a hole in the backyard, thankfully drained! And there is a pile of boxes in what used to be the front garden awaiting installation. The hillside has also been trimmed back giving us a much bigger usable deck and landscape space.

March 15, 2003 - Mud Bath Anyone?

The Beginnings of the Black Lagoon (PXcover March 2003)
Construction began on March 14th for our new black bottom LAGOON pool complete with waterfall, jacuzzi and firepit! It rained on Saturday the 15th and the pool was almost half full. Gotta love those desert storms ;-)

March 9, 2003 Before

Before we had a concrete slab patio in the blazing, unrelenting sun of the desert. You can see rough sketches of the layout and the imposing hillside in the background.
