NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED

The awful sadness is creeping in
Anger soon fades and gives way
Not given credit or kudos or reward
No appreciation given again today

Hard work for someone else's dream
Who day by day expects more for less
Who forgets every accomplishment
And blames me for every single mess

You think you really know someone
Only to find out that you don't at all
Or try and help a friend who is in need
Only to get tangled and hurt in their fall

The despair and disappointment
Following, stalking and smothering me
