Back To Normal

So with great heartbreak
We pick up the pieces of our lives
Dealing with the heartache
We say farewell to those lost

We live through the pain
Cutting through our hearts like knives
Today the sky is weeping rain
The tears still streaming

We get back to "normal"…
As if things could ever be normal again
As if things were ever okay in the world
As if things were good the way they had been

People are smiling
The flags still flying
Politicians are lying
But people are still dying

And with great heartbreak
Maybe we will see the other lives
Dealing with the heartache
Of just trying to stay alive

They live through the pain

Maybe the sky is crying rain
Where ever they are today

They cannot get back to "normal"…
As if things could ever be normal for them
As if things were ever okay in their world
As if things were good the way they had been

People are starving
Terrorists still hiding
Politicians still lying
Those poor people still dying
