EXOTIC INGREDIENTS
I have well over 100 dried herbs (and I don't know how many essential oils) in my witch's cabinet. It is nice to have exotic ingredients, lots of choices, and a variety of scents and textures. But these are the basic essentials I cannot live without, that I rely on time after time... I use herbs (and essential oils) for aromatherapy, culinary, magick, and medicinal purposes. With these herbs, you can create a wide variety of scents, spells and recipes! Honestly, I reference intentions and correspondences, but over the years I go by FEEL above all. When creating for a purpose, I add what feels and smells right according to what I am trying to accomplish. It is amazing some of the yummy things I have concocted doing just that, and they have all been very effective! It's all about WILL. I N C E N S E basic formula "non-combustible" (needs to be burned on lit charcoal disks in a burner): 2 parts powdered herbs and/or resins 1 parts dried herbs 1 part essential oil or other liquid (absolute, wine, honey, essential water) Grind (in mortar with pestle) or crush up each ingredient separately before mixing. I like to have at least one herbal ingredient that is not powdered. Then mix dry ingredients thoroughly before adding liquid ingredients. The great thing about incense is it is very flexible and formulas can be greatly adjusted, so experiment! I do not use rare or endangered plants (such as sandalwood).
