Tools are wonderful guides and teachers. They can amplify personal power and aid in visualization. They can be symbolic and create ambiance. Tools can also be a lot fun to work with.

I have been collecting pagan tools since about 1985, and have a remarkable collection. They are fascinating and incredibly artistic items.

But I truly believe, that paganism, and spirituality in general, requires no tools except your MIND. You do not need anything but yourself to worship, do magick, or celebrate.

Many Witches never use any other tool but their own personal energies.

You should never become dependent on tools of any kind, they are an aid, that is all. The power any tool has comes from YOU, and you alone. And personal power should be kept for yourself and not given away to inanimate objects.

Some pagans give their tools a magickal "name."

Most written references (with possible exception of Sax Wiccans) believe magickal tools should not be used for any other purpose than ritual work. Some do not allow their ritual tools be handled by anyone other than themselves.

Some covens or groups share a common set of tools.
